Beginner's Guide
If any of you are like we were when we first arrived in the Digital World, I'm sure you have a lot of questions. I would say the questions get easier as time goes on, but I'm afraid they don't. Even those of us who have come here for years are often surprised by what the Digital World does. But since you're here, I think it's best to clear up most of the confusion right now. I realize it's a lot to take in, but please listen carefully. The place you're in now is both the Real World and the Digital World. Normally, the two worlds stay separate, but when forces such as evil Digimon start acting up the Digital World starts appearing in the Real World and vice versa. Sometimes it just means Digimon appear in the real world. Other times entire stretches of land appear in the sky. I'm afraid matters are much worse than that this time. This is the first time the Real World and the Digital World have merged completely. If you look around I'm sure you'll find things familiar if you're from Tokyo, but some of the places are things the Digimon made, too. This is because when the two worlds merged things got mixed up-- some places are still here, others aren't. Unfortunately, that goes for Digimon and people, too. There's quite a few missing. For those of you who don't know, the Digital World is a world created because of a computer. This entire world may be data, but it's very much real. I've heard the Digital World first appeared when the military started using the internet, but that might only be a rumor. Since then gateways to many other worlds have started appearing as well. This means there are many worlds out there and some of them we're not aware of. Before the merge happened, my friends and I knew of several different worlds that existed beyond our own, and now it appears there's even different Real Worlds and Digital Worlds. The Digital World used these Gates to bring us all here. Yes, I know it's not very convenient, but there's nothing we can do about it. I know you'll want to be going home, but that's simply not possible right now. Not to mention you might not have a home to return to when this is all over. If you want to go home sooner, you're going to have to help save the worlds before that can happen. How? You're what is called a Chosen Child. There are many other names for us, but they all mean the same thing: we've been chosen to help save the Digital World through various means, in most of our cases that means we have Digimon partners. The name Digimon means Digital Monsters. They are the creatures that live in the Digital World. Most people aren't aware they even exist, but their world is almost completely intertwined with our own. So when they're in trouble so are we. ![]() ![]() ![]() Digimon are hatched from Digi-Eggs in a place called Primary Village. Digimon cannot really die, so they're constantly reborn. You should know if your Digimon partner happens to die they may not come back the same. Some of their data may be lost or mixed up which can result in a personality change, but that's not always the case. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pabumon > Motimon > Tentomon > Kabuterimon > MegaKabuterimon > HerculesKabuterimon Digimon go through life changing forms periodically. They typically go in the order of: Digi-Egg, Fresh, In-Training, Rookie, Champion, and Mega. Each time the Digimon changes form, or Digivolves, they become more powerful and often times much larger. Don't worry when your Digimon De-Digivolves, it's common. It takes a lot of energy out of them to remain at a higher level, so most partners will stay at Rookie. The good thing about this, though, is that once you reach a higher level the first time it's relatively easy to Digivolve to it once more. You will also find that there are generally two categories of Digimon: Human and Beast. Digimon in the Human category look overall more human while Beast Digimon will have more animal qualities. The Digimon are also in groups called families that are Digimon who have similar qualities. What does the Digimon's ability to Digivolve have to do with you? Everything. Your Digimon partner will only be able to Digivolve if you work together. Bonding with your Digimon is essential if you wish to get stronger. Your partner had been waiting for you for a long time and has called you here to help save the worlds. They can only do that with the two of you working together and you believing in them. ![]() Everyone needs a Digivice in order to help their Digimon Digivolve, so you should keep yours on you at all time. But after Champion level having a Digivice won't help you much, as you need something more. How can you Digivolve further? Well, every group that is brought here is different. Some only need to work together and others need to have a firm relationship, but to give you an idea I'll go over how me and my friends help our Digimon Digivolve. ![]() While we had no trouble getting our partners to Rookie or Champion, doing it before we even realized, anything higher we were incapable of doing without a crest. Our crests were what channeled our emotion and energy for our partners to use to Digivolve. ![]() My crest is the crest of Knowledge. Each crest represents the greatest trait of its holder. Which is why you'll find Taichi's is courage and Jyou's Sincerity. The crests will only work if you believe in yourself, specifically in that particular quality. Once you have your Digivice and have figured out how to Digivolve further, then you can do amazing things with your partner. I hope this has answered most of your questions and you're welcome to ask more if you wish. I know this isn't the most comforting places to be, but we can't help it. I'm sorry. Please consider working together with us so we can return things to normal. |
