Arriving
| WELCOME! WELCOME! CULU! |
| One moment you're in your own world fighting, sleeping, eating, talking, the list is endless, but everything will change in just one instant. Something shouts your name. A voice that shouldn't be familiar, yet somehow is. You turn your head for even the briefest of seconds to check and for a moment you might think you catch the sight of something blue... You don't have long to check as suddenly you're picked up. It's difficult to keep your eyes open as your tossed around inside a tunnel of bright lights and numbers, but it lasts thirty seconds or maybe a minute tops before it's over. You'd expect to be tossed on the ground by some sort of tornado, but that doesn't seem to be the case. When you open your eyes you realize you're in a chute of some sort. For those familiar it almost feels like being stuffed in one of the containers that transfer money at the bank window. You don't have to worry, though, or maybe you do, because within seconds the door slides open. Your body is sore, but if you look there's no sign of bruising. That is if you have the chance to look. Hello! Hello! Culu! Welcome! Welcome! Culu! You're new! You'll help us! Hey, do you want to play?! Suddenly your face is invaded by the small white creature who introduces himself as CULUMON. No matter how shaken you are the creature doesn't seem to notice. He keeps going on about wanting to play for several minutes. Then the sound of someone clearing their throat echoes through the room (and if you linger long enough might realize it does so every ten minutes). Oh! That's right! Kou-Kou will get mad if Culumon doesn't tell you, huh? This is Terminal Tokyo! Culumon doesn't know exactly when, but at some time the Real World and the Digital World became one! The Digital World is a place where Digimon are from! Don't worry, we're friendly! Culumon bets your partner is waiting right outside! They've been looking for you for a long time! You were brought here so you could play together. But--but the Digital World needs your help, too! Please help, we only want to play with you! Will you play a game with Culumon now? Wait! On the table back there a device should appear when you touch it! That's your Digivice! It'll help you and your partner become stronger the more you play together. Isn't that neat? Will you play now?? Whether you agree to play or not, Culumon will not be able to give you anymore answers to your questions. When you eventually make your way to the table the Digimon pointed out, upon placing your hand on it, your hand will be scanned. After a moment two devices will appear. One will be your Digivice, something that will appear like a virtual pet simulator toy. The second device is much larger and roughly the size of a Nintendo DS. Upon opening it you will see a keyboard and a screen. This is your D-Terminal, which will allow you to communicate with anyone on the server. A message will appear on it the moment you open it. Hello! Taichi would tell me to let you know not to panic, but I think that's an unreasonable thing to ask. First, I'm sorry for any inconvenience being brought here might have on you. Trust me when I say none of the rest of us ever planned to leave our worlds either, or expected it. I'm getting ahead of myself, though. My name's Koushirou Izumi and I'm a Chosen Child-- like you. A Chosen Child is a person called to the Digital World. Nearly all of us have Digimon Partners (but I'm not sure how Takuya and his friends work, it's quite fascinating). Every person who is brought here has a Digimon partner waiting for them. They might look scary, but they won't eat you. Your Digimon needs just as much help from you as you will need from them. The Digital World is in trouble right now and that's why it called us. We are able to help out because our partners sort of use our energy to do a thing called digivolve, otherwise known as evolution. The more you spend with your partners the more powerful they will get. How is the Digital World in trouble? We don't know exactly. Normally it's an evil Digimon trying to take over, but that doesn't seem to be the case right now. All worlds are connected, however, and that's the reason you were able to be brought here. I've been collecting data for a while now and it seems the gates are... well, slipping. There's not a way I can really explain it beyond that. Normally the gates can be closed or opened, but right now it's like they can't. Something's blocking the way. That's what my data is saying, anyway. Culumon should have told you that the Real Worlds and Digital World have merged. This is true. The layers have always been a thin veil, but thanks to the gates they've completely dissolved. The area you're in now used to be two places, Tokyo and Terminal City. Now bits of both are throughout the city so we just call it Terminal Tokyo. The area you arrived in is normally a port zone for Digimon out of Terminal City, we've been making use of it for you new Chosen Children. The last thing you should know is just outside these doors is your Digimon partner. They'll be able to escort you around the city and tell you about the Digital World in more detail. At the end of this letter you will find your room assignment and the bit amount in your account. Your room is free until you decide to move out, but you live with two other people. The bit is the currency here. You can gain more through training, working, and other odd things. I hope this covered most of your questions. Unfortunately I can't answer why you were chosen to be here, but whatever it is the Digital World thought you could help. That's all we know. Good luck and see you soon, Izumi Koushirou P.S. I apologize for Culumon. He can be a bit overwhelming, but the rest of us have too much to do to stay down there all the time. ROOM XXX BIT: 1000 GUIDE TO THE DIGITAL WORLD Hopefully the letter answered the rest of your questions, if not it's unfortunate for you as no one else has anything else to give. After reading the letter you're free to leave the room and meet your Digimon partner for the first time! Once you leave you won't be let in the terminal area unless absolutely necessary and will find the doors locked no matter what you try. Good luck and welcome to Terminal Tokyo! |
